Leadership and effective management is just like riding a bike! However, if the bike isn't steered or powered effectively, it's not likely you'll get very far. Learners explore this analogy and other leadership concepts during this course. New ideas from current political and business leaders are introduced and evaluated during this training experience. Class participants will analyze their own experience through virtual case studies where they have the opportunity to examine effective and ineffective leadership methods. impact Solutions has done the research to deliver concepts that are on the cutting edge of today's leadership principles.
 

Module 1: Ethical Leadership – 1 hour

The class begins with a look at the fictionalizing of truth. A small group exercise will look at the Prisoner's Dilemma and how it applies to leadership.

Module 2: Defining Leadership – 1 hour

The class will look at the contemporary definitions of leadership. What are the common components and what does the current literature and gurus say a leader exhibits? The class will review profiles of historical, political and professional leaders to determine how valid those characteristics are when looking through the ethical lenses.

Module 3: Ethics and Leadership – 1.5 hours

What is a true leader? Is it something they do that defines them as a leader, or is it who they are that defines them? The class will look at leadership as an ideal. Is ethics relative or absolute in today's society? What are the values that set apart a leader, from one who leads?

Module 4: Leadership Obligations – 2 hours

The class will review the ethical obligations that a manager/leader has to those employees who work for him or with him. Video examples will be used and discussed to validate the importance and value of those obligations. Maslow's Hierarchy will also be used to analyze the importance of the ethical role of leaders. The discussion will then look to what each employee/leader has to his/her employee.

Module 5: Putting it all Together: 1.5 hours

A final discussion will center around the physical actions of an ethical leader concluding with reinforcing activities to evaluate the ethical role of leaders.
